The Flamingos Featuring Former lead singer Tommy Hunt
The Flamingos formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1951, acclaimed for the best harmonizing
vocals of the rock n’ roll era.  Zeke Carey, Jake Carey, Paul Wilson, Johnny Carter and
Sollie McElroy are the founding members of the Flamingos. Sollie was not really there
at the very beginning, but he was the first recorded lead. For the Chance label in
1954, McElroy doing vocals, brought the Flamingos regional fame with “Golden
Teardrops”. "Golden Teardrops" was recorded and released in 1953.

Kathy Young
Before she was 16 years old Kathy Young had what millions work their life for - she was
a star. At age 14 she caught the eye of a producer at a Wink Martindale T.V. Show and
within weeks she recorded "A Thousand Stars" which quickly became a number one
hit.  In 1965 at age 19 Kathy took a major step in a new direction - she married John
Maus of the Walker Brothers, who was occasionally her guitar player.

Frankie Ford
Frankie sang his way to rock n' roll immortality in 1959 with the mega hit "Sea Cruise".
That song has become one of the greatest rock n' roll classics of all time. The tag line,
"Ooh wee, Ooh Wee Baby" is one of the most recognizable lines in all of popular music.
He was born and raised in the New Orleans area where he still lives in his hometown
suburb of Gretna, Louisiana.  He is known all over the world as the "New Orleans
Dynamo" and spends about 200 days a year on the road.

Del-Vikings
"Dom, dom, dom, dom, dom-dee-doobie, dom......"  Probably the most familar phrase in
all of doo-wop and maybe music fromt the 1950's.  A phrase created by the legendary
Del Vikings (also spelled Dell-Vikings and Del-Vikings) - one of the most successful
doo-wop groups of all time.  Unlike many other original groups, the Del Vikings had two
big hits and continued staying power for years.

Shades Of Blue
The Domingos formed while in junior high in 1961. The lineup consisted of Nick
Marinelli (lead), Bob Kerr (baritone), Ernie Dernai (first tenor), and Dan Guise
(baritone). They fashioned themselves after the top Motown acts and began doing

THE CONTOURS
The road to a Motown recording contract wasn’t an easy one for The Contours. Berry
Gordy wasn’t very impressed following a 3-song audition in 1959 and sent them packing.  
Hubert Johnson, one of the original members of The Contours thought his cousin, the
legendary Jackie Wilson might be able to help the group with some much-needed advice.

Bobbetts
The Bobbettes were a girl group who had a 1957 top 10 hit song called "Mr. Lee."  The
group, which originally formed in Harlem, New York, in 1955, was first known as "The
Harlem Queens." The girls first met while singing at the Glee Club at P.S. 109 in
Harlem. They were soon discovered by James Dailey, a record producer, who also
became their manager, while playing a concert at the legendary Apollo Theater's
amateur night, and were quickly signed to a contract on the Atlantic Record Label

Pookie Hudson's Spaniels
The Spaniels formed 1952 in Gary, Indiana, are universally recognized as one of the
great R&B vocal groups of the fifties era.  In 1953 "Baby It's You made the R&B Top
10. The following year the Spaniels had their biggest hit "Goodnite Sweetheart,
Goodnite" that reached US Pop top 30.
